Cotton Socks Photography Ltd is a rapidly growing photography company and specializes in under 5’s pre-school, nursery and primary school photography in the North East of England. We currently cover a range of different areas within the North East and are expanding our portfolio. Due to expansion and demand, we are looking for enthusiastic, energetic, patient photographers to join our team on a self-employed basis to supplement your own diary with a flexible approach. We are currently a small team of 9 and looking to expand. We are a bunch of local photographers that support each other so successful applicants need to be friendly, polite and work well in a team environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Firstly, you must be able to communicate effectively with young children within the nursery and primary school setting to capture beautiful, natural, happy images.
You will travel to various locations so must have your own means of transport and a full UK driving license.
You will be responsible for all your own equipment and must have a DSLR camera with a suitable, good quality lens for children’s portraiture.
Lighting equipment is essential and can be hired from Cotton Socks Photography with a deposit (refundable on return) or own lighting can be used as long as it meets company standards. Backdrops will be provided.
You will, in most cases be working alongside other photographers or assitants and in nurseries with over 50 children an assitant is provided for you. For primary schools a team of 3-5 will attend together so it is important that you work well with others.
Whilst you will not be editing photos, you will need to have access to a computer as you may be required to cull, edit/crop images (if not correct in camera) and upload, so basic knowledge of Photoshop is essential.
Rate of Pay
You are paid on a basic rate plus commission. A nursery of 50 children photographers earn on average between £250 – £350 and half of primary school between £300-£500 per photographer
Schedule:
Monday to Friday (school hours, term time) however there are early starts. Most nurseries are a 8:30am arrival with a 9am start. Schools are typically a 7:30am start
Experience:
Photography: 2 years minimum
Studio lighting: 2 years is nice to have but not essential as training will be given to succesful applicants
Photoshop/lightroom: must have adequate knowledge of editing software
License/Certification:
DBS (required)
Full UK driving license with own transport (required)
